Scholarship Prep South Bay Turns Campus Into a STEM Showcase

Families arrived on campus for Scholarship Prep South Bay’s annual STEM Open House, and within minutes, it was clear: Scholars were running the show.

They walked families through experiments. They demonstrated prototypes. They explained the engineering design process using their own projects as proof of concept. And they answered questions with the kind of enthusiasm that only comes from spending Friday afternoons in hands-on learning.

Every week, our South Bay Scholars dedicate Friday to STEM work, not only reading about science, but actually doing it. Asking questions. Designing solutions. Testing ideas that sometimes fail spectacularly before they succeed. The Open House gave families a front-row seat to it all.

Thanks to support from The Larry and Helen Hoag Foundation, every Scholarship Prep campus has the resources to make hands-on STEM learning a weekly reality for Scholars.

SP South Bay’s 2026 STEM Open House is officially complete, but if this year proved anything, it's that Scholars are just getting started!
