Scholarship Prep South Bay Celebrates Dia de los Muertos with Family Movie Night

In early November, Scholarship Prep South Bay hosted a Family Movie Night on campus, an excellent opportunity for the community to come together and celebrate Dia de los Muertos. The Special Education Department organized the event, led by Ms. Vargas, who set up a beautiful community ofrenda to honor and remember loved ones who have passed away. Families were invited to submit a photo to be included in the ofrenda, a touching way to pay tribute to those who have left us.

We ended the night with a showing of the animated movie 'Book of Life,' the perfect way to celebrate this occasion with families.

We're thankful for Mr. Nunez and the student leaders who set up the big screen for the movie and South Bay staff members Mrs. Contreras, Ms. Palacios, Ms. Ontiveros, Ms. Rickman, Mr. Castillo, and Principal Vann, who coordinated the distribution of sandwiches, cookies, drinks, and popcorn for everyone to enjoy.

It was moving to see so many families come together to celebrate Dia de los Muertos, and the community ofrenda was a beautiful way to bring everyone together in remembrance. The event was a shining example of how SPSB continues to foster a welcoming and inclusive environment for all community members.

Thank you to everyone who made this event possible, and we look forward to continuing to celebrate together as a community.
